Our Philosophy
Let Me Tell Your Story
As someone who had no baby photographs of myself until I became a mum for the 1st time in 2000 I fully understand the power of a photograph. Despite never setting out to be a photographer, I ended up on this journey, enabling me to provide so many families with timeless portraits to treasure for generations. But it has also helped me come to terms with my adoption, with my identity. It’s a path that I am glad I found myself on.
I love photographing kids of all ages -from just a few days old right up to those bigger “kids” in their 90’s. As cliche as it sounds, it is a privilege & honour capturing images that will become family heirlooms. Many of my families started out with me being their wedding photographer - how amazing is it that I also get to document their family!
If you’re like me & absolutely hate getting your photograph taken, I feel your pain but I also know that you won’t regret getting into one or two of the photographs when you see the finished portrait. Our children don’t care that we have a bit of weight to lose, or that we’re going a bit grey or that we have bags under our eyes. They love us unconditionally so I will always try my best to encourage you to join in.
Boudoir Photography
At Caroline Smyth Photography, we believe that boudoir photography is about so much more than capturing beautiful, sensual images it's about celebrating your journey, reclaiming your power, and embracing your true self. We provide a safe and empowering space for women to rediscover their confidence.
Why Choose a Boudoir Photoshoot?
Boudoir photography can be transformative for many reasons, and women from all walks of life choose to participate for deeply personal reasons including:
Rediscovering Yourself After Menopause
Menopause can feel like a time of significant change, both physically and emotionally. Many women experience a loss of identity or confidence during this stage of life. A boudoir shoot offers an opportunity to celebrate your body, rediscover your sensuality, and see yourself in a new, empowered light.
Empowerment After Leaving a Toxic Relationship
Breaking free from a toxic relationship is an act of strength, but it can also leave emotional scars. Boudoir photography is a powerful way to reclaim your body, your space, and your identity. It allows you to take back control and rewrite the narrative around how you see yourself.
Celebrating Milestones & Life Changes
Whether you’ve recently gone through a divorce, hit a milestone birthday, or achieved a personal goal, a boudoir photoshoot is the perfect way to mark the moment. This experience is a visual reminder that you are powerful, beautiful, and worthy at every stage of your life.
Boosting Confidence After Weight Loss or Body Image Struggles
For women who have experienced weight loss or body image struggles, a boudoir photoshoot can be incredibly empowering. Seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes can help shift your mindset and help you embrace your body with renewed confidence.
Healing and Reconnection Post-Illness
If you’ve recently gone through a serious illness, it can be difficult to reconnect with your body. Boudoir photography helps you embrace the changes, reflect on your journey, and celebrate your strength and resilience.
